Women's religious attitudes and behaviors (Sample of Van city centrum)

This study is a field study that consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. In introduction part, the problem situation subject, aim and importance, scope, limits and method of research are explained. First chapter poses the conceptual framework of research whereas second chapter consists of transferring and evaluation of findings obtained from interviews. In theoretical part of our research, development of religious attitudes and behaviours, worship life and faith situations which are among the subjects of religious psychology in adulthood and old age phases, are analysed by basing on results of empirical studies committed about subject. Yet in theoretical part, concepts of piety, dimensions of piety and woman piety are discussed. In this context, developmental features of women according to age groups are primarily dealt with, and religious attitudes and behaviors of women in above mentioned phase are examined. In implementation phase of our study, religious attitudes and behaviors and piety levels of women between 25 to 75 ages are searched. Research consists of results obtained from interviews with 31 women who live in various neighborhoods in Van city centrum. Processes of datas obtained this way were carried out with descriptive analysis technique. In this study religious ethos attitudes and behaviours of housewives living in city of Van were tried to be examined. According to findings obtained from study, it is understood that levels of religious belief and worship of examined women are high.
