Abstract (EN)

Trade unions are legal entities organized to protect the economic and social rights of employees. When low rates of female participation in the labor unions in Turkey is considered, so as to increase the participation of women in the labor market are expected to be able to support female employees work in a safe direction and equal conditions. However, when the union participation rate of women in Turkey, it is observed that in the last position among 39 countries of the European Trade Union Confederation. In this study, the low participation of women in trade union in addition to union reasons, it has been also described with non-union reasons such as socio-cultural, economic and personal reasons. In the research carried out on the opinions of women during the student life when their ideas about business life and unionization began to form, the perception of the problem was tried to be underlined. As a result of the study, it is seen that trade union attitude and gender perception in work life are not independent. In addition, it was found that female students' perceptions of trade union attitude, desire to become a union member and gender discrimination perceptions vary according to their age, department and class.
