Abstract (EN)
This study was carried out in the center and villages of Kağızman district of Kars between 2015 and 2016. It was aimed to identify high quality walnut genotypes and take them under preservation among the walnut population grown from seedling rootstock. 16 walnut genotypes were selected as promising on the basis of two years observation, investigation and evaluation based on walnut selection criteria. It was determined that selected genotypes had average of fruit weight between 10.14 and 14.98 g, kernel weight between 5.01 and 8.08 g, kernel ratio between 41.58 -60.20% and shell thickness between 0.97 and 1.62 mm. Kernel colour of types was light in 25% of types, yellow in 62.50% of types, extra light in 4 types and dark in 33.33% of types. All fruits were found in round shape and were appeared in extra class. While 12 genotypes were found to be protandrous, 4 genotypes were determined protogynous depending upong flowering characteristics.
