Abstract (EN)
In this study, phenological and pomological characteristics of 'Long Apple' variety were investigated. Although being a local cultivar 'Long Apple' also known as 'Kağızman Apple' has a wide range variation. The study was carried out on 112 'Long Apple' trees and their fruits selected from Kağızman District center and surrounding during the years 2013 and 2014. In this study full bloom as April 27-May 02, harvest as 21-25 September and from full bloom to harvest as 143-152 days were determined. In 2013, average fruit weight as 62.13-158.14 g, average fruit length as 54.50-79.99 mm, average fruit diameter as 46.43-62.04 mm, average shape index as 1.23, average fruit flesh firmness as 7.56 kg cm-2 were determined. In fruit juice analyses, average pH as 3.53, soluble solid content as 13.21% and titratable acidity as 0.52% were determined. In 2014, average fruit weight as 72.69-157.56 g, average fruit length as 60.42-82.67 mm, average fruit diameter as 46.98-64.44 mm, average shape index as 1.28 and average fruit flesh firmness as 9.09 kg cm-2 were determined. In fruit juice analyses, average pH as 3.67, soluble solid content as 13.25% and titratable acidity as 0.42% were determined. Kağızman Apple trees were observed to have medium-strong development and have vertical or semi-vertical growth. Of the investigated 112 trees, 34 have regular yields and the rest have relative or absolute periodicity tendency. Investigated genotypes revealed that Kağızman Apple was winter cultivar harvested at the end of September and at the beginning of October, had medium-size long cylindrical fruits with slightly saury flavor and great aroma and had a high eating quality. For further studies 36K005, 36K008, 36K023 and 36K024 were suggested.
