The Woodworks in the open area of Kahramanmaraş Museum etnography department

The subject of this study is categorizing the woodworks in the open area of Kahramanmaras Museum Etnography Department accordind to their construction techniques, embellishing and composition features and document them via photographs and drawings. Materials, adorning features, techniques, motif and composition features have been given in the thesis as chart forms by the way of using description techniques. It has been defined that most of the works in the museum are embellished with horizontal surface engraving and nacre inlay work. Different from the others, there is a c offee table with tile. It is ascertained that these works were made as furniture like console or coffee table. Most of the works have geometrical and Greek embellishes. On the other hand, the motif and composition features have been varied in the analyzed works. The works have been put a date as the beginning of the 19th and the end of the 20th. Within the scope of this study; general information about the woodwork is given, The adorning and construction techniques and the composing construct of the works, which are from the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th one and places in the Kahramanmaras Museum, Ethnography Department, are broken down and the acquirements are presented as the graphics and the photographs. The works in the Kahramanmaras Museum, Ethnography Department has been documented by carburizing the drawings and making a building survey. It is thought that this study can be utilized for the tomorrow?s searches as one of the samples for the woodwork which is one of the most significant parts of our removable cultural heritage and shed light to the samples of the woodwork in the Kahramanmaras Museum in terms of the art history, adorning techniques and the samples of the woodwork held a place in that century.
