Abstract (EN)
The rapid increasing population and consumption understanding in recent years has caused a rapid decrease in the limited raw material resources. As a result of this situation, the necessity to use the existing resources more economically has emerged. Therefore, 'Optimum use of resources' has been a very important research topic in order to ensure the continuity of human life on earth. In the scope of this study, firstly the granulated wastes are sieved according to the granulometry given in the Turkey Highways Technical Standard and physical properties were investigated. Subsequently, mixtures which were designed as filling, sub-base and Plent Mix and containing various amounts of waste material were compacted in optimum water contents determined according to modified Proctor test. The strength properties of these samples were determined by California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test and compared with the specifications given in the Turkey Highways Technical Standard. Finally, a comparative cost analysis was conducted for the use of aggregate obtained from natural and construction debris in road construction. According to the findings, it is determined that construction debris can be used completely in the filling under the foundation and it can be used in certain proportions in the sub-base and Plent Mix Foundation layers. In terms of cost, it was found to be very economical to use in filler, sub-base and plant mix base layers and soil improvements, since aggregate from construction debris wastes is a very cheap process.
