Performance appraisal for quality management systems by using fuzzy logic with analitical hierarchy process and fuzzy analitical network process

ABSTRACTIt is a difficult job to select the best alternative for decision makers. When they select analternative, decision makers must consider multiple objectives, make a selection from a set ofpossibly conflicting alternatives, or rank the alternatives in order of their importance. Thus,when faced with such challenges, many decision makers use Multiple Objective DecisionMaking Methods. `Multiple Objective Decision Making? involves selecting the best amongmany alternatives; a process that can roughly be described as assessment, ranking andselection. Multi objective decision making procedures can be used in a variety of areas fromjob selection to fighter jet selection.Management philosophies have changed and improved in parallel to technology and theyhave changed how organizations perceive management systems, improved and diversifiedmanagement systems (Quality Management Systems, Environment Management Systems,Food Safety Management Systems, Information Safety Management Systems, ?), and alsomade it necessary to equip performance measurement and audit mechanisms with scientificand objective instruments. In this dissertation Multiple Objective Decision Making and FuzzyLogic is jointly used to develop a performance measurement model and are applied tomeasuring the performance of a management system. The management system I focus on inthis work is the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System (QMS), which is the mostgeneric and wide-spread of management systems. However, proposed model is compatiblewith all other management systems. In the study, performance of an audited system ismodeled using Fuzzy Logic, the Analytical Hierarchy Process and the Analytical NetworkProcess.
