Özet (EN)

In this study the dissolution kinetics of calcined dolomite ore was investigated in propionic acid solutions. For this investigation; propionic acid concentration, solid-liquid ratio, stirring speed, particle size and reaction temperature were chosen as parameters. As a result of the experiments, it was observed that it conforms to the first order pseudo homogeneous reaction model. Statistical methods and graphical data were used to confirm that reaction kinetics was to fit first order pseudo homogeneous reaction model equation. The rate of reaction was found to be inversely correlated to stirring speed, solid-liquid ratio and particle size. The activation energy (EA) of the reaction was found to be 21.316 kJ.mol-1 and Arrhenius constant (A) of the reaction was found to be 4.10-4. With the determination of the kinetic model, the dissolution kinetics of propionic acid solutions was investigated and optimum conditions for dissolution were determined. Dissolution process is the first step of obtaining calcium propionate from dolomite ore. Propionic acid is widely used in the food manufacturing and also known as E282. It is frequently used to prevent the growth of molds, fungi and other organisms, especially in bread and other bakery products.
