Abstract (EN)
Faced with rapid urbanisation and an ever-increasing demand for social housing, Cameroon has witnessed a significant expansion of property development projects in recent years, particularly in Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon. This surge in development is driven by the need to meet the growing housing demands of the population. In this context, the concept of sustainability, encompassing environmental, economic and social dimensions, has emerged as a major issue in the construction sector. This study assesses the sustainability of social housing projects in Cameroon, with a focus on the emblematic Olembé and Les Pétales projects as case studies which are currently underway in Yaoundé. These projects, often presented as models of sustainable urban development, offer a unique opportunity to examine the various facets of sustainability within the social housing sector. Through an exploration of the theoretical foundations of social housing and the principles of sustainability, this research aims to identify the key success factors and challenges encountered in the implementation of these projects.
