The role of news in public diplomacy: Case of Anadolu Agency

In this thesis, the news production and distribution of the Anadolu Agency, as a news agency, and its role in Türkiye's public diplomacy are discussed. With this study, the concept of public diplomacy, its history, working areas of public diplomacy and cultural diplomacy, the role of the media in public diplomacy, and the development of public diplomacy in the world and Türkiye have been revealed; Anadolu Agency, which was founded in 1920, is one of the most important public diplomacy tools of Türkiye, especially in the international arena, with news presentations on the perception and image of Türkiye in the international environment within the framework of the determined main work topic, and the coup attempt of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016, and its aftermath, July 15, 2016, and 15 October 2016, it is investigated in which dimensions the news about the process of public diplomacy came to life in the emphasis areas.
