A research on evaluation of medical tourism services in public hospitals

Health tourism has been developed in our country as well as in the world. Medical tourism is an application for medical purposes, which is regularly applied by doctors in secondary and tertiary health care institutions to tourists who have a particular disease . In this study, it is aimed at presenting current situation in the field of medical tourism ,which has become more important for tourism variations; determining the needs of what has to be done to increase our country?s sectoral magrin and eliciting educational needs of health staff giving the service. The aim of this study is to ensure our country be one of the leaders in medical tourism. Our other aim is to determine the needs for what we need to do to increase the percantage of public hospitals, and inspect and detect current implemantations. This study consists of two parts , which are theoric and research parts. At the theoric part, the aim and importance of this study and emphasize of conceptual framework have been mentioned. In this sense, health and medical tourism has been defined, the current situaition in our country and in the world has been examined and the implemantations of leader countries has been handled. In the research part, it has been analysed, with a survey which has been implemented to all public hospitals in İstanbul, whether public hospital structures are ready for medical tourism or not. In the sense of research findings, the current situation of medical tourism has been presented and the medical tourism implemantations of two public hospital in İntanbul has been examined. After that, some suggestions have been put forward to increase the percantage of public hospitals in medical toursim.
