Abstract (EN)
Job satisfaction is one of the most significant and essential variables in healthcare institutions. Strong empirical indicates that there is a pivotal association between job satisfaction, patient safety, and quality of care. However, there have not been any studies examining the job satisfaction of Somali nurses. The main objective of this study is to determine the factors influencing the job satisfaction levels of nurses working in a public hospital operating in Somalia. The sample for this study consists of 104 nurses working in Hargeysa City Hospital, which is the second-largest public hospital in Somalia. The study was carried out between 02-30 December 2021. Data collection for the study was done using an individual information form and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. Frequency tables, percentage distribution, one-way and ANOVA t-tests, Pearson's correlation, and Cronbach Alpha coefficient were used to evaluate the data attained in the research. The nurses' job satisfaction average score was found to be as follows: general satisfaction is (3.16±0.44), intrinsic satisfaction (3.540.39), and extrinsic satisfaction (2.61±0,75). It was observed that nurses who are married, graduated, employed for more than 10 years, matron nurses, and nurses employed in clinics have higher job satisfaction. The item "in terms of supporting others" provided the highest level of satisfaction in nurses (3.96±0.95). While the "In terms of wages" item was found as the lowest satisfaction item, from this result, we can see that general and intrinsic job satisfaction were moderate, but extrinsic job satisfaction was very low. According to their personal and occupational characteristics, It has been confirmed that the job satisfaction of the nurses varies in terms of age, gender, working time, title, and inside job pleasure. and it has been suggested that nurse managers and hospital administration should examine and conduct deep research on job satisfaction, which is extremely important for working nurses and in hospitals, and new regulations should be practiced to increase and improve job satisfaction of nurses.
