Abstract (EN)

Although coordination has been one of the main problem areas of public administration for centuries, the importance of coordination has increased in recent years. In a globalized world where multi-level and multi-sectoral governance is mainstream, the issue of coordination is becoming increasingly important. However, in Turkey there is no comprehensive study examining the issue of coordination with all its aspects. Contributing to filling this gap in the national literature is one of the main objectives of this work. In the first section of the thesis, the importance of coordination in public administration, the sources of the problem of coordination, the need for coordination, the advantages and disadvantages of coordination, the definitions of coordination and coordination in the historical process had been discussed. In the second section, the levels and types of the coordination and mechanisms for coordination and the coordination capacity had been figured out in the light of international literature. In the third part of the thesis, the issue of coordination had been dicussed in the light of current disscussions in the public administration. In the final results and suggestions section of the thesis, the theoretical evaluation of coordination, suggestions for future researches, proposals for implementation and policy, and other conclusions and suggestions had been examined. Keywords Coordination, Inter-Organizational Coordination, Cooperation, Collaboration
