Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study was planned to adapt the Cancer Patients Requirement Scale developed for the parents of pediatric oncology patients to Turkish and to study its reliability and validity. Methods: Sample of the study is constituted of 131 parents who undertook the care of cancer patient children aged 0-18, recevied treatment in Dokuz Eylul University Nevvar Salih Isgoren Children's Hospital Hematology-Oncology Clinic between November 2019- August 2020. Frequency/percentage, paired simple and student t test, correlation, Cronbach Alpha, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used for data evaluation. Results: The Scale's Cronbach Alpha correlation coefficient was found to be 0.96 for the whole scale,0.95, 0.96, 0.84, 0.90, 0.85 for the subscales. The correlation coefficient of the score correlations are between 0.48 and 0.84 (p < 0.001). The correlation of the needs of information sub-dimension is positive and good (r = 0.746), the correlation of the emotional needs sub-dimension is positive and very good (r = 0.934), the correlation of the daily needs sub-dimension is positive and good (r = 0.672), the correlation of the psychosocial needs-1 and the psychosocial-2 subscale was positive and very good (r = 0.808, r = 0.861). Correlations of all sub-dimensions were found to be statistically significant with the scale (p <0.001). The scale's content validity index on the scale basis was 0.99. The Kaiser-MeyerOlkin coefficient (KMO) of the scale was 0.921 and Barlett test result was X2 = 3854.877 (p = 0.000). The scale explained % 79.69 of the total variance and the factor load values of the scale are between 0.55 and 0.97 NFI, NNFI(TLI),CFI, IFI, RFI >0.90, RMSEA and GFI <0.80 was determined.Factor analysis results showed that the model tested was compatible with the data, confirmed that the scale made five factors, and explained its sub-item. Conclucion: The results indicate high validity and reliability for the " Cancer Patients' Requirement Scale" which is shown to be a reliable tool for Turkish researches.
