Abstract (EN)
Objective: In the study; it has been aimed to investigate the nutritional relationship between thrombosis risk factors and thrombosis prophylaxis in cancer patients. Method: 582 patients, from the Medical Oncology Department of Akdeniz University Hospital, have been included in the study. 149 of them are new diagnoses and 433 of them are under ongoing treatment. If the diagnosis date is equal or less than 3 months, it has been groupped as new diagnosis; and, if the diagnosis date is more than 3 months, it has been groupped as ongoing patient. Nutrition parameters and thromboembolism risk factors of the patients have been determined and body measurements have been performed. The relationship between nutritional and thromboembolism risk and prophylaxis requirements have been examined. Results: According to VTE risk score; 230 (%39.5) patients have been found at low risk and 352 (%60.5) patients have been found at middle–high risk. The average age of patients in the middle–high risk group has been 57 ± 11 years, and the average age of patients in the low–risk group has been 55 ± 12 years. The difference has been calculated as significant. Smoking Exposure has been 31 ± 14 pack years in the middle. High risk group where as it has been 22 ± 15 pack years in the low–risk group. It has been found significantly different. The majority of patients in the middle–high group and low risk group have been stage 4 patients. The clinical stage evaluation between the two groups have been found significant. Leukocyte, neutrophil and platelet counts in the middle – high risk group have been significantly higher than the low–risk group. Weight, bmi, triceps, skinfold thickness (mm) and waist circumference measurements have been significantly higher in the middle–high risk group. Conclusion: The average age of the middle high-risk group has been higher in terms of VTE risk. Smoking has been a risk factor for VTE. Nutrition parameters; weight, bmi, triceps, skinfold thickness and waist circumference measurements have been significantly higher in the middle–high risk group. Key words: Nutrition, Thromboembolism, Prophylaxis, Anthropometric Measurement
