Özet (EN)

The hospitality industry, which operates as the sub-branch of the tourism industry, continues its significant development process through being affected by socioeconomic, cultural and technological shifts as well as changes in consumption habits over the past four decades. One of the most important problems faced by the sector in the rapid development process is that the need for skilled labour, which has increased in line with the growth rate, has not been sufficiently supplied by the labour market. As in all tourism countries in the world, demand for skilled labour in certain tourism regions of Turkey's hospitality industry increases every year and is emerging a growing competition in this area. In this study, recruitment problems are evaluated for hospitality businesses in Cappadocia tourism district which is one of Turkey's and the world's most important tourism destinations. In the study, the results of 92 valid survey outputs obtained from the survey conducted with the managers of 135 accommodation enterprises operating in the region were examined. The overall results of the study suggest that the problems of the supply of qualified labour force that are widespread in the region are related to the expectation conflicts between the qualified labour force and the enterprises. These conflicts focus on areas such as wage, extra opportunities, career expectancy and work permanence from the perspective of labour force, and focus on the lack of practical work skills of employees with high tourism education and the insufficiency of professional knowledge accumulation of uneducated workforce from the perspective of hospitality enterprises.
