Abstract (EN)
As a natural consequence of the rapid developments in industry and technology and their industrial wastes are left around, some problems like depletion oxygen of the water and extinction of plants and animals in water occur. For this reason, to raise the decreasing oxygen concentration to its limit values is vital. To do this, oxygen in atmosphere must be physically transfer into water and this is called aeration. Although hydraulic structures are in contact with water for a short time, they significantly increase the amount of dissolved oxygen. Because hydraulic structures enter lots of bubbles into flow and cause increasing contact surfaces between air and water. This increase also increases the amount of dissolved oxygen. Researchers have been working to determine the most economical and efficient methods of aeration. In this project, the optimum design of free flowing gated closed conduits for maximum air entrainment were investigated. For this purpose, air vents were opened periodically at gate downstream and aeration performance was measured for each hole. As a result, it was understood that conduit of flows of the suction force in the free-surface flow did not show a change from terrestrial. Air drawn in through the air vents was thought to occur due to the effect of drag of water. Keywords: Aeration, Air İntake Rate, Conduit, Free Surface Flow, Oxygen Transfer
