Abstract (EN)

Nearly one-third of human life is spent by sleeping. Sleep is a necessary cycle in order to rest our body and relax our brains. It is a physiological need, but the physiology and therefore the time of sleeping is changed for each person. For high quality of sleeping, the comfort of the body during sleeping is quite important. The most important component of comfort is thermal comfort, which is defined as the physiological, psychological and physical adaptation between the human body and the environment. Within the scope of this study, in order to improve and develop sleep systems, the comfort properties of various quilted knitted fabrics were investigated according to physical (weight, thickness and fabric density), thermal comfort (air permeability, water vapor permeability and thermal resistance) and performance (pressure distribution and compressibility) properties. The results were statistically analyzed and comparatively evaluated. In addition, different fabric structures commonly used on the bed face were introduced, the latest technologies used by the manufacturers of mattress and bedding fabrics were examined and expectations from these structures were put forward. It was observed that the thickness and fabric density were the most effective properties on the thermal comfort parameters and performance characteristics of the samples evaluated. In this case, the best performing fabrics were found as fine and denser structures.
