Abstract (EN)

Plants have been used in folk medicine for years. Due to the including bioactive secondary metabolites, they gained the great interest for pharmaceutical industry. In this work, root of Artemisia campestris was powdered with liquid nitrogen then extracted with hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol sequentially. After the removing of the solvent from each extract, hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol extracts were obtained. The antioxidant activity of these extracts was carried out using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl free radical (DPPH•) scavenging, 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging, reducing power tecniques. Methanol extract displayed the most antioxidant activity Therefore, methanol extract was subjected to chromatography to isolate the compounds whose structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques such as 1D-, 2D-NMR. Neochlorogenic acid and Chlorogenic acid were isolated and identified. Both compounds showed the excellent antioxidant activity.
