Özet (EN)

This study aims to investigate of the units content economical clay formations which are located in the northern part of Karaburun Peninsula. The basement rocks of the study area are represented by sandstone-pebblestone-mudstone formation which in Ordovisien-Carboniferous age. Salman formation overlies the basement rocks with an angular unconfirmity. Salman formation occurs with mudstone-pebblestone units which form in a streamflow-dominated alluvial fan facies in early Early Miocene age. Yaylaköy volcanics overlie the Salman formation with an angular unconformity. Yaylaköy volcanics occur with as different two stages of andesitic-andesitic basaltic lavas and a pyroclastic member which seperates these stages which in Early Miocene age. The clay formations are observed in Salman formation as two different layers with 6 m (gray coloured layer) and 10 m (redish coloured layer) thichnesses. Depends on the technological analysis on the clay samples, the clay formations can be used in ceramic industry. These formations have totally 11.750.000 tones reserves.
