Abstract (EN)

In this study, head sizes of Karacabey Merino sheep were determined in two ways as classical and image processing methods. It was aimed to determine the relationship between the obtained data and the live weights of the sheep. For this purpose, 24 heads of Karacabey Merino sheep raised in Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculty of Agriculture Education and Research Farm and their yield records and images were used as research material. In the study, the head features of each individual were determined by the classical measurement method and instruments, and digital images of each individual were taken on the front of the head. Within the scope of the measurements, the head length and head widths and forehead heights of each individual were determined. The images taken were evaluated in the image processing program. The relationship between the data obtained by both methods and the live weight data of the individuals was revealed. The relationships between the descriptive statistics and parameters of the data obtained in the study were evaluated by the binary correlation method. As a result of the research; it was determined that the measurements taken with the classical method and image processing methods were consistent. It was evaluated that the image processing method was more practical than the classical method in determining the head measurements. It can be said that there is a significant statistical relationship between the animal's live weight and head width.
