The social effects of rural development projects carried out by TKV on inhabitants and development level of Karacadağ region

Rural development is not only building on economic principal and also comprises multidimensional variables. Besides having integrity, it projects social change on a large scale so its solution is multidimensional, very comprehensive, and multidisciplinary and contains all kinds of data. Rural development has aimed to reveal the requirements of continuation to agricultural activity for inhabits of rural region. Furthermore, how rural development studies are organized is extremely important as how it is carried out. In general, the probability of investment by private sector in rural region is low due to the benefit expectation of employing on these regions. For this reason, it is considered that development studies could be done with civil society organizations. In this topic, Development Foundation of Turkey (TKV) that has many works in a lot of rural regions of Turkey has got rural development studies started in villages of Karacadağ. This is the first civil studies in real manner. These studies have been done by seeing negative development potential in Diyarbakır and paying attention to insufficient agricultural production opportunity.In this study the impressions of distinctive 21 projects those have been applied between 1989 and 1998 in different 13 villages of Karacadağ region by Development Foundation of Turkey TKV is evaluated. In the same region, 13 villages those rural development studies haven?t been applied by TKV have been selected as control group and comparisons have been done for the evaluation of success of Development Foundation of Turkey (TKV). In this study it is found that the villages those rural development plan have been applied by TKV have a satisfaction ratio more than the other group such as in cross examination of ?considering specialist?s opinions in production field? and ?providing labor free of charge for rural development?.Keywords: Social Change, Rural Development, Development Foundation of Turkey
