Mineralological and geochemical characteristics of Karakaş (Arıcak-Elazığ) barite mineralization

The mineralizations around Karakaş (Arıcak) Village have not been examined until now, and it is an original study as it is a region that will be studied academically for the first time. This study will make significant contributions to the development of local mining by examining the mineralizations observed in the region in detail. This study aims to mineralogically and geochemically examine the Pb-Zn and barite mineralizations observed near the Karakaş village, located approximately 12 km east of Arıcak District of Elazığ province. Production is carried out by different private companies in the region from the mineralizations observed in the east-west direction. Ore production in the region is mostly aimed at Zn production. Barite formations in the region are observed together with zinc and bird mineralizations. In this context, samples will be taken from the ore zones in the region, thin sections and bright sections will be prepared, chemical analyzes will be carried out to determine especially the main oxide, trace and REE contents, and the possible formation environments of these mineralizations will be tried to be determined.
