Abstract (EN)

This study investigated the mediating role of abusive supervision in dark triad personality traits' effect on life satisfaction. In our research, which is based on the Theory of Conservation of Resources, the data of 300 law enforcement personnel and 300 private security and protection personnel working in 66 provinces of Turkey, where the power distance between subordinates and superiors is high, was obtained by questionnaire method on the internet. In the findings of our study, there was a negative relationship between dark triad personality traits and life satisfaction; similarly, a negative relationship was found between abusive management and life satisfaction. In addition, a positive relationship was found between the dark triad characteristics and abusive management. Therefore, all hypotheses (H1, H2, and H3) of the research in line with these findings were supported. In this sense, our study contributes to the literature on the determination of negative situations caused by continuous exposure to dark leadership behaviors in employees and plays an essential role in determining the problems that occur in law enforcement, where the hierarchical structure is intense and carrying out necessary administrative regulation and rehabilitation studies.
