viANALYSIS OF THE VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEMS WHICH AREDESIGNED TO PREVENT ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS(Masters Thesis)Mehmet ERDEMGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to analyze the vehicle safety systemsthat are designed to prevent road traffic accidents. In fact, the trafficaccidents are still a major problem across the world, includingTurkey. Not only the academic references, but also scientificstudies and experimental reports that we reviewed during thepreparation period have shown and confirmed that the usage ofvehicle safety systems has been increasing over the years in orderto prevent road traffic accidents, as well as reduce fatalities andloss off money & resources. The minimum technical requirementsand vehicle crash tests that are periodically updated in thedeveloped Countries also play a crucial role for the accidentprevention.Within this thesis, the aforementioned vehicle safety systems arereviewed in general.
