The role of human as a driver, pedestrian and passenger in the traffic accidents in which thousands of lives are lost every year has been brought into public view by the statistics of related establishments. This fact has formed the basis of our research and has brought into light that the importance of human factor in traffic security ought to be subject to further research. Our aim is to verify that the traffic accidents in which we lose many livesas well as goods can only be prevented or reduced in number if the negative effect of the human factor (as a driver, pedestrian and passenger) is eliminated. In the research, first of all the drivers, who have the strongest effect as a part of human factor, were examined in terms of young and inexperienced drivers, attitude and behaviours of new drivers, security of old drivers, description and use of psychotechnique as a means of preventing accidents, the expectations of highway traffic security from the psychotechnique evaluation, driver psychology and determination of drivers characters, driving under the effects of drugs and alcohol, tired and sleepy driving. Secondly, passengers and pedestrians were examined in terms of their own security and as causes of accidents in the traffic environment, and our driver-training, which will be the main precaution in reducing the negative human effect in accidents, was evaluated. In conclusion, under the light of the fact that human is the most important agent in providing the traffic security, various suggestions on the subject were made.Key words : Traffic education, psychotechnique, driver psychology traffic education, traffic accidents.
