A study on Karesi (Balıkesir) handicrafts

The consistent changes all over the world within the context of technological, economic, political, social and cultural, bring the globalization with themselves. As a result of this globalization, the cross-cultural differences come up against the danger of "extinction". One of the issues facing the danger of extinction with the effect of globalization is the "handicraft tradition", which is also the subject of this study. The main purpose of this study; It is to identify and record the handicrafts in the region as a result of the compilation studies carried out in Karesi district of Balıkesir province. In the continuation of the study; besides determining the position and importance of Karesi Handicrafts in local culture and Turkish culture, it is also aimed to make a comparative evaluation about the position and importance of the determined handicrafts in local culture and Turkish culture.
