Republican Period of Turkish literature through the perspective of caricature (1923-1940)

Caricature has been an instrument for depicting all kinds of aspects ranging from transportation to health problems, from the noises that were made in apartments to the invention of the radio, and among these aspects, literature also has a place. In this study, the newspapers and magazines that have been published between the years 1923 and 1940 were scanned and the ones which focused on caricatures have been determined, the collected materials are sorted into three categories. The emergence and the development of the caricature, the relation it has with literature has been scrutinized in the prologue, after that the stated four categories can be seen. In the first episode litterateur's writings and work, in the second episode literature's new appearance and the studies in the literature environment, in the third episode surveys and interviews, in the fourth episode caricatures whose topics were meetings were discussed and those days' literature subjects were analyzed. While the newspapers and magazines which were gathered together were being evaluated, literary history, survey and research works, magazine and newspaper writings have been utilized, their background pieces of information were included thus provided a broader perspective. In the last part which is the conclusion, about the aforementioned period of Turkish literature's subjects' general views were given.
