Abstract (EN)
This research was carried out in the urban part of Gaziantep- Karkamış. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors effecting the civic improvement of Karkamış from the past up to now, and regarding to this examine the green and open areas according to the construction plan, and to determine the possibility of making the archeological site zone in the city, which belongs to the ancient kingdom of Karkamış an Open Air Museum.According to the result of this research in the research field the open and green areas are insufficient in comparison to the increasing population, not properly maintained and fail to meet the feeds in order to this, a strategic plan giving priority to recreational areas should be formed and the arcient city area which is a class 2 archeological site zone should be turned into an open air museum (archeological park) in order to benefit the city economy.
