İkinci Yeni poetry in the context of carnivalesque elements

The concept of 'carnivalesque' introduced by Mikhail Bakhtin to literary theory offers an original perspective in explaining and making sense of literary works. It is possible to evaluate situations in which an attitude of opposition to authority, norms and hierarchical order in literature is carried out in a carnival atmosphere through laughing, grotesque body images, insulting phrases in the vernacular, strange and eccentric situations within the framework of this theory. His Second New Poem, which is considered a critical process in terms of the modernization of Turkish poetry during the Republican period; it can be considered as an original art trend with its critical attitude towards structures that represent excessive, contrary, exaggerated and various orders. His Second New Poem, which carries Turkish poetry to a different stage in linguistic, semantic, formal and intellectual terms, has a remarkable carnivalesque atmosphere in terms of the features it carries in its literary character. In this respect, his Second New Poem and the carnival theory are compatible with each other in many ways. With this thesis, it will be possible to deepen the Second New Poem by considering it in the context of carnival theory, to give a new perspective to the Second New Poem and to make different meanings. This study aims to be the first study to be conducted in the context of Turkish poetry and carnivalesque theory and to provide a pioneering contribution to the studies on modern Turkish Poetry in this regard.
