Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to evaluate upper extremity and motor functions in indiviuals with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). The population of the study consisted of individuals who applied to the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department of Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Traning and Research Hospital with the diagnosis of CTS. 132 individuals diagnosed with CTS were included in the study. The date were collected from the answers given to the questions in the demographic information from prepared by the researcher and from the patient files. Quick Questionnaire for Arm, Shoulder and Hand Problems of the upper extremity, Tinnel and Phalen Test; evaluotion of CTS, Two-Point Discrimination Test; static and dynamic sense, Evaluation of Normal Joint Range of Motion (ROM); Visual Analog Scale (Ertekin & Hastalıklar) of joint range of motion some values that cannot be measured numerically, Box and Block Test (BBT); manuel dexterity, and pain threshold were evaluated objectively with Pain Threshold and Tolerance measurement. IBM SPSS Statistics 23 package program was used in the statistical analysis of the date. As a result of the analysis BBT hand score; ıt was significantly lower in the side with and without CTS (p<0,01). It was determined that the Q-DASH scores of individuals with CTS were significantly different (p<0,01) in the side with CTS compared to the side without CTS. As a result of the analysis of the individuals, the VAS values of side with CTS were significantly lower than the side without CTS (p<0,01). Pain Threshold and Tolerance Measurement results of inviduals of diagnosed with CTS were significantly lower (p<0,01). As a result, it was determined that the sensory and motor functions of the upper extremity of the individuals with CTS were significantly worse than the upper extremities without CTS. Therefore, sensory functions as well as motor functions should be included in the routine evaluations of the individuals with CTS.
