Abstract (EN)

Mixing operations are encountered widely thoughout productive industry in processesinvolving physical and chemical change. Although much of our knowledge on mixing hasdeveloped from the process industry, many other sectors carry out mixing operations on alarge scale. Many industries, especially food, medical, paint, paper, plastics, ceramic, chemical utilize mixing apparatus. Since there are various kinds of substances in nature, mixing apparatus display many different forms.Choosing a mixing apparatus gains even more importance when it comes to attain the rightmixture. Liquid-liquid mixtures posses great problems. Thus, in debt research has beenperformed and reported in the literature. Liquid-solid mixtures are relatively easy since themixing technique depends largely on the component whose amount is in excess. In spite ofthe systematic analyses carried out on solid mixtures, some difficulties may stil arise. This research report studies apparatus mainly for liquid-liquid mixtures (Newtonien fluids).According to the physical characteristics of the mixing substances; power requirement, flapand mixer type selection, and strength calculations are the fundemental principles of thisstudy. Thus, lack of knowledge causes mixing problems. It is hoped that this review help toprovide a scientific underpinnig of the mixing operations carried out in a wide range ofindustries. Keywords: Mixing, fluid mechanics, seals, helical ribbon impeller, rushton turbine, baffle, gas dispersion, solid suspentionJURY:1.
