Abstract (EN)

In this study it was aimed to research the morphological and anatomical properties, chemical components of the cell wall and wood fiber characteristics of Calabrian Pine (Pinus brutia Ten.) trees which were brought from five different zone of Kastamonu (Hanönü, Araç, Bozkurt, İnebolu and Tosya). Different laboratory technicals were used to determine the values, measurements and modes of different characteristics of the samples. For this aim, morphological properties (needle length (nl), needle width (nw), needle density (nd), stomata number per unit area (st/mm2), shoot length (shl) and number of cell layers (lno)), anatomical properties (tracheid ray number, tracheid diameter, widths of early and late wood zones), wood chemical components (ethanol extraction (%), lignin (%), holocellulose (%), alpha cellulose (%), 1% NaOH solubility (%), cold water solubility (%), hot water solubility (%) and ash specification (%)) and morphological properties of wood fibers (fiber length, fiber width, lumen width and cell wall thickness) were determined and the samples which were taken from each zone by comparing, similarities and differences were revealed. According to obtained results, it was inferred that the trees taken from different areas have varied morphological and anatomical characteristics, different wood chemical components and wood fibre properties. It was determined that the growth locations properties changed the morphological properties of same type trees, the anatomical properties, the chemical components of wood and wood fiber properties. Key Words: Calabrian pine, morphological properties, anatomical properties, wood chemical components, wood fiber characteristics
