Determination of clonal variation in Kastamonu Günlüburun crimean pine seed orchard

This research has been carried out in crimean pine (Pinus nigra Arnold ) seed orchard of Kastamonu Günlüburun by investigating 30 of clones with respect to cone and seed traits by 14 years old. As to the cone traits of clones; the weight of cones, the dimension of the cones and apophysis, the number of carpels; as to the seed traits, the number of seed, the length and width of seed and wing, 1000 seed weight, seed potential and seed efficiency were determined.According to the results of the study, significant difference among the clones were designated. The fresh weight of the cones varied from 16,918 g to 38,509 g among the clones with an average of 24,13 g. Also, the cone length varied from 55,19-74,43 mm with an average of 64,49 mm. The cone width varied 26,65-36,56 mm with an average of 30,63 mm. The total carpel number varied 80,02-110,64 whereas the opening carpel number varied 38,03-56,20. The average of cone apophysis length, width and thickness were 8.41, 10.59, 3.44 mm, respectively. The seed length of the clones varied 5,74-7,29 mm with an average of 6,29 mm. Besides, the seed width varied 3,32-4,11 mm with an average of 3,56 mm. The potential among the clones varied 76,07-112,40 with an average of 95,99. Also, the seed efficiency varied 5-21% with an average of 13%. 1000 seed weight of the clones varied 20,368-29,731 g with an average of 24,233 g. The mean of seed length and width were 19,66 and 7,22 mm, respectively.In respect of the cluster analysis, 519 numbered clone was determined as the most different clone among the studied clones. Also, this clone was designated as the most different clone according to the penrose analysis. As to the studied traits; 519, 535, 522, 517 and 516 numbered clones were classified as the best ones.Key Words: Crimean Pine, Clonal Variation, Seed Orchard
