Abstract (EN)

It is known that human beings use various forms of expression to convey their own experiences, leave messages to future generations, and transfer information, laws, and rules. Visual expression forms such as Ideograms (concept-writing), Logograms (meaning-letter), and Syllograms (syllabic writing) with pictographic values are employed for this purpose. Similarly, the world of communication through design has evolved and transformed from words to images and from images to words over time. With the development and transformation experienced, the communication network and the perception of information have highlighted the need for the facilitating effect of visual forms of expression. Particularly in today's world where visuality holds increasing importance, visualized concepts can effectively address the perception-focusing issues arising from the complexity of textual information, rather than using extensive verbiage. Such visual expressions can appeal to audiences from all social segments in various contexts. At this juncture, 'PhiloGraphic,' the core focus of this study, is deemed beneficial for visualizing concepts in specific subjects, both in educational contexts and daily life. 'PhiloGraphic' integrates the disciplines of philosophy, which is rooted in literary values, and graphic design, which predominantly employs visual elements like ideograms and pictograms. This integration visualizes philosophical concepts in a simple and minimalistic style, utilizing geometric shapes and basic forms, along with color preferences that adhere to the sensitivity constraints of the message. In realizing this phenomenon, it can be observed that graphic design, particularly through poster designs, plays a significant role. The simplicity evident in 'PhiloGraphic' poster designs eschews lengthy textual explanations and instead conveys complex philosophical theories, traditionally challenging in literary discourse, in a manner accessible to all levels of comprehension through creative interpretation. Especially in today's visually-oriented world, where attention spans are shortened and there is a growing preference for visual over literary content, the facilitative impact of 'PhiloGraphic' and similar designs across all spheres of life becomes increasingly apparent. Particularly in domains witnessing a surge in digital visual tools and in terms of cognitive development, these designs can serve as educational and creative resources even before entering the abstract phase of understanding. In this context, the 'PhiloGraphic' phenomenon under study aims to apply as poster designs, simplifying philosophical concepts and everyday terms that demand mental exertion for comprehension. Originating in the late 18th century, graphic design product poster designs have been instrumental in visually communicating specific situations, phenomena, concepts, or everyday terms to target audiences. They facilitate the visualization of philosophical concepts and everyday terms in a straightforward manner, guided by grammatical principles within design education. In this direction, it is aimed to create an application area for the visualization of the concepts discussed in the research and to evaluate them within the scope of design principles and elements together with the works produced within the framework of existing designs.
