Investigation of fatigue performance of welded 6082 aluminum sheets

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the changes in the key mechanical performance properties of AA 6082 aluminum alloy material, being a rolled aluminum alloy parents, using 2 different (welding wire and autogenous) welding techniques are examined in detail by means of UTEST servo-hydraulic fatigue testing machine. Two metal alloy sheets are welded together parallel to the rolling direction. As a result of the fatigue test, the fatigue lives of the materials are graphically analyzed by displaying the applied test loads and the number of fracture cycles on the Wöhler (S-N) diagram according to the data obtained depending on the fracture of the samples It is being investigated which physical, surface or mechanical properties cause the fatigue strength changes depending on the welding method. In addition, the effects of the welding techniques used on the performance of AA 6082 rolled aluminum alloy material are analyzed in depth by microstructural analysis and hardness measurement tests. All experimental results are evaluated together and the performance differences of the alloy parts produced by additional wire and autogenous welding methods are clearly revealed. The research aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of how these special alloys and welding methods can be optimized for more efficient and durable material designs in industrial applications. This comprehensive assessment will contribute to the development of new strategies in materials engineering and manufacturing processes.
