Abstract (EN)

Consensus has been reached by almost every environment, especially the architectural platform, on the need to protect cultural assets that have survived to the present day. Nevertheless, the conditions under which the cultural heritage will be preserved and its current use will still be discussed. Taking the subject away from all taboos and political approaches, it is important to revise the church-mosques within the adaptive reuse framework, especially in terms of transferring the common cultural heritage to future generations with insights. As a worldwide application, we encounter; There are also examples of re-functioning practices in Kayseri, in order to make the religious mission loaded structures serve another religion. In this context, in the evaluation of 6 Ottoman period churches which are the focus of the study; historical-new situation comparisons are included. In addition to comparing Kayseri church-mosques with examples from all over the world, Kayseri church-mosques have been positively and negatively revealed, and subjective interpretations have been brought to the buildings within a theoretical framework. In the use of churches as mosques; In the study, where the historical, cultural, social and architectural values of the buildings are determined, it is seen that churches are generally exposed to interventions contrary to the protection algorithm. The fact that the churches in the urban area reach today with the projects have partially glorified them compared to other churches. Recommended correct intervention/application sensitivities; will ensure that both the existing space potential of the buildings is revealed and the values it possesses are passed on to the next generations. With this work; ignored churches in Kayseri once more and bringing the churches used as mosques to the literature in their original form; Kayseri will result in the correction of false images in the urban identity. In the conclusion part, it will be mentioned how the prayer structures with the main reference to protect the architect can be adapted to the current mosque architecture, and the cultural, public and touristic achievements of the country thanks to this activity.
