Research of domestication of wilde dye plants that grown in Kayseri

This study was conducted to determine domestication of dye plants grown wildly in Kayseri. It was carried out at experimental area of Field Crops Department of Çukurova University, Agriculture Faculty in 2000- 2002 years. Rubia tinctorium 1., Mahonia aquifolium Nutt, Rhus coriaria L., Achillea biebersteinii Man., Berberis crataegina DC. ve Chrysanthemum segatum L. were collected and used in this experiment. Characters of plant height, number of branches, fresh root yield, dry root yield, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield and dye stuff content were examined after harvest. In the case of Rubia tinctorium the measurements of plant height, number of branches, fresh root yield, dry root yield, dye stuff content were 161 cm, 10.3 per/plant, 1053.7 kg/da, 295 kg/da, 3% respectively. For Mahonia aquifolium the measurements of plant height, number of branches, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield, dye stuff content were 49.6 cm, 6 per/plant, 48 g/plant, 26 g/plant, 2.6% respectively. For Rhus coriaria the measurements of plant height, number of braches, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield, dye stuff content were 99.8 cm, 4.3 per/plant, 2.18 kg/da, 1.22 kg/da, 2.5% respectively. Vox Achillea biebersteinii plant height, number of branches, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield, dye stuff content were 13 cm, 397.8 per/plant, 620.2 kg/da, 195.7 kg/da, 1% respectively. For Berberis crataegina plant height, number of branches, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield, dye stuff content were 56.14cm, 8.7 per/plant, 263.5 g/plant, 62.2 g/plant, 2.6% respectively. For Chrysanthemum segatum plant height, number of branches, fresh herba yield, dry herba yield, dye stuff content were 73.6 cm, 4.9 per/plant, 27T7 kg/da, 1222 kg/da, 1.6% respectively.
