SUMMARYMasters ThesisTurkish Cypriots Existence Struggle(Turkish Resistance Organization and Its Actions)Ayhan CANKUTÜniversity of FıratThe Institute of Social ScienceAnd Postgraduate Study in History2006; Page: XI + 239Although Cyprus problem has started to engage Turkish public opinion since1950?s, the origin of the problem is based on the begining of 1800?s even the end of1700?s. The origin of the Cyprus problem was based with the first ?Megali Idea? map,published in 1796 and showing the Cyprus in ?Great Greece? borders. Greeknationalism formed with the ?Megali Idea? opinion effected Greek Cypriots and paralelto the Mora rebellion they attempted to rebel for the goal of ENOSIS.The real events for the goal of ENOSIS have started with the leaving of thegovenering of the Cyprus temporarly by Otoman Empire for support of England againstRussia in 1878 and gradually incerased. Gradually increasing ENOSIS actions haverised in 1950?s. We see that Cyprus problem is developed in the framework of Greek?sactions attempting to reach the ENOSIS goal and Turkish struggle against these actions.Whith the process of England that leaving goveniring to Cypriots, in 1950?s,Greeks and Greek Cypriots in the framework of ?Megali Idea? ENOSIS namely toconnect Cyprus with Greece has attempted various games and unhumanitarianbehaviors.At this time Turkish Cypriots in order to continue their existence and to protectthemselves have foundered some organizations. Most important of this organizations?Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT)? was foundered in 1958 and also have animportant role in foudation of Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic (KKTC).Key Words: TMT, Bloody Christmas, January 27-28 Events, ENOSIS, EOKA.
