Abstract (EN)
Energy is the most important element which improves the quality of life and maintains economical, social progress. For development of a nation industry is essential; for industry: cheap, clean and continuous energy, for energy: money, technology and human resources are needed. Since energy consumption of our country increases day by day, power plants using water, which is a national resource, rather than other alternatives, are needed to be built and operated with the highest efficiency. In this study, efficiency and generation values of Karakaya Hydroelectric Power Plant (in Diyarbakır) and Keban Hydroelectric Power Plant (in Elazığ) are estimated by using artificial neural networks (ANN). For the study; monthly average meteorological values such as humidity, precipitation, open surface evaporation, pressure, temperature of reservoir basin and power plant values like water flow rate, hydraulic head, vaporized water and specific water consumption of the last five years (2008-2012) are taken and sampled. The ANN is set in such a way that the meteorological and power plant values are used as inputs, the generation and efficiency values are gained as outputs. Equations acquired by the theoretical analysis are solved by using MS Excel and Matlab, and presented in graphs. Using the ANN model, generation and efficiency of Karakaya and Keban Hydroelectric Power Plants are estimated with a 99% precision and it may be presumed that, this model will be able to help the studies about meeting the increasing energy demand of following years.
