Evaluation of the distribution of heart diseases in cats and dogs according to age

Heart diseases are essential diseases that negatively affect life and can result in death in both human medicine and veterinary medicine. With the development of technology and examination methods, diagnosing heart diseases in cats and dogs can be done much more quickly. In this study, the distribution of heart diseases in cats and dogs according to age was examined, and the aim was to reveal the risk level of animals according to age groups. This thesis study brought patients with respiratory problems, exercise intolerance, cough, etc., to a private clinic in Eskişehir and its immediate surroundings. Cardiological examination of cats and dogs brought with signs of heart disease was performed. 50 cats and 60 dogs were included in the study. Heart diseases of cats and dogs were diagnosed by ultrasound and echocardiographic examination, and their distribution according to age was examined. According to the results obtained, it was determined that the prevalence of heart diseases increased as the average age increased in both cats and dogs. It has also been determined that dogs' average age of heart disease varies depending on whether they are large or small breeds. In this context, it is recommended to perform regular echocardiographic and cardiological examinations for the correct diagnosis and diagnosis of diseases and to improve the quality of life of cats and dogs.
