Investigation of Seropositivity of Toxoplasma gondii in Cats

The aim of this study was to investigate the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in cats living in different regions. Information such as race, age, gender, habitat, and diet of cats included in the study was collected. Serum samples (50 pieces) were serologically examined by Sabin-Feldman Dye test. As a result, 24% seropositivity was determined in all samples. No association has been found in the direction of seropositivity related to race and age. But of the 12 cats that tested positive, 75% were found to have a street past. In previous studies, there was no difference in seropositivity between cats living in the house or on the street. Although raw meat consumption was one of the main factors in the transmission of T. gondii most of those who tested positive in this study were fed dry and wet food instead of raw food.
