Tradition and modernism in Kemal Sayar's works

The main purpose of this study is to examine the concepts of tradition and modernism in Kemal Sayar's poems and stories. In the first part of the research, the purpose, importance, assumptions and limitations of the research and the method used in the research are revealed. In the third chapter, the conceptual framework has been discussed, the definitions of tradition and modernism have been made, and the meaning and importance of both concepts in terms of human-society and literature has been stated. In the fourth chapter, Kemal Sayar's life, his literary personality, his views on art and literature and his works are emphasized. In the fifth and sixth chapters of the research, in which the descriptive general scanning model was used, 3 poems and one story book were scanned within the framework of the concepts of tradition and modernism, and findings and comments about these two concepts were revealed. Since it is the first thesis study on Kemal Sayar, his literary works were examined for the first time and their qualifications were determined in the study, which filled a gap in the field. In the analyzed works, it has been determined that the effects of the conflict between modernism and tradition on people and society are handled with a critical approach.
