Abstract (EN)

Kemalettin TUĞCU is an important writer who impressed several generations in Turkey deeply with his stories that combined the culture of the Late Ottoman Period and the Republican Period. Many of the stories he wrote, in essence, are texts that children enjoy reading and meet the criteria of polysemy. In this research, Kemalettin TUĞCU's stories were approached from a different perspective, and the values discussed in the texts were examined with the method of reception aesthetics. Therefore, it is a qualitative study in terms of methodology. Reception aesthetics is an effective method that highlights the role of the reader within the framework of a literature-based social studies teaching approach. The study attempted to reveal how values are perceived by the researcher and students. For this purpose, first, the values in the stories were determined. Second, the students' opinions regarding their reception of the value elements in the stories were determined. Finally, the values received by the researcher and students were compared with the values in the social studies curriculum. In conclusion, it is understood that values are heavily included in Kemalettin TUĞCU's stories and that these values also largely overlap with the values in the social studies curriculum.
