Abstract (EN)

When we examine the poverty phenomenon in Kemalettin Tuğcu's novels, which has an important place in Turkish literature and has made a name for itself in children's literature with his novels, it is seen that he deals with sections from different parts of the society with observation and social critical perspective. The children Kemallettin Tuğçu treats as the main character are poor children who struggle with poverty, who could not live their childhood to the fullest compared to other children or who had to mature early. Tuğcu dealt with the lives of these children in a realistic way. In another sense, it can be said that he touched on the phenomenon of poverty, which causes a section of society to become invisible, in the context of children. The main theme of this study is to examine the phenomenon of poverty in Kemalettin Tuğcu's novels. In this context, the general definition of the phenomenon of poverty, what the poverty line is, blaming the victim in the culture of poverty, new poverty and exclusion from consumption, poverty and social mobility will be discussed. In the context of these concepts about poverty, thirteen novels of Kemalettin Tuğcu selected from his works will be examined and it will be aimed to define them on a sociological basis.
