The survey of the construction techniques of traditional houses in Kemaliye, Başpinar and the restoration proposal for M. Tamer Aksoy House

The study in which the construction techniques of traditional houses in Başpınar Village are examined and restitution, building survey and restoration projects of M. Tamer Aksoy's four-floored-masonry house are prepared comprises of 6 chapters. In the first chapter, the purpose, scope and method of the study is introduced and the second chapter covers the effect of physical structure, geographical features, historical development and social structure of Başpınar village towards architecture. In the studies taking 25 days, its existing 1/1000 map was used as base and the arhitecture of village was analysed in detail. In this respect, the number of floors of the constructions in location, functional features of the constructions, period analysis, production systems and materials, authenticity were determined and recorded on the map. On the purpose of the examination of traditional construction techniques in the village and authentic materials used in constructions, the determination of protection problems and the development of suggestions for solutions, the costruction system and elements of 20 houses, which were entered with permission, was examined, documented with photos and detail drawings with 1/10-1/5 scale were made. In scope of the study, the building survey drawings of M. Tamer Aksoy's four floored-house were made. In accordance with photos taken 1970 and 1973, the interviews on the history of house with landlords and local master builders, the restitution projects of house were prepared. By taking the existing situation of the construction and user needs into account, a restoration project was drawn in order to protect and get the house to gain a new function. Başpınar, a rural location in east Anatolia, lost most of its inhabitants but protecting its authentic architectural texture and characteristic features, it has been come until today. Hopefully, this study will contribute to other researchs and protection works conducted in Başpınar and Euphrates river valley which has similar architectural features to Başpınar.
