Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the teaching process of Turkish music originated melodies for position shifts in violin education. The study uses pretest-posttest design model and its study group is composed of 8 students (n=8) who receive education in İnonu University Faculty of Education, Fine Arts Education Department Program of Music Teaching and who take individual violin courses. 'Performance Observation Form for Playing in Position and Playing in Shifting Position', which has been formed based on expert opinions and which includes the positions of I, II, and III has been used to gather the data. Since the number of participants in the study was under 30 (N=8), Wilcoxon signed-rank test from non-parametric tests has been used to analyze the data. The pretest and posttest data of the participants regarding their skills in playing the violin by staying in position III and playing in shifting position I-III, staying in position II and playing in shifting position I and II, and playing in shifting position I-II-III have been compared. According to the results of the study, there is a significant difference between the participants' skills of playing the violin in position and in shifting position with traditional Turkish music melodies pretest and posttest. In addition, opinions have been taken regarding the 13-week education process in the structured interview form. The gathered data have been analyzed by using the content analysis method within the qualitative research approach. In accordance with the results, suggestions have been put forward stating that traditional Turkish music melodies can also be used in teaching positions IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII in addition to I, II, and III positions in violin education, that different makams can be used that are suitable for the techniques of playing violin other than the Turkish music makams that have been used in this study, that traditional Turkish music melodies can be used in teaching the techniques of playing with the right and left hands.
