Examination of M. Crickboom method used in violin education

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to examine the technical aspects of playing violin in M. Crickboom?s method and also the scope of this thesis is to determine the scope of violin education, the right ? left hand technical studies for playing violin, what is the technical and musical features of exercises, etudes and pieces in three volumes. From qualitative research methods, the content analysis model was used in this study. Qualitative research method, which is mostly used in social sciences, consist of observation, interviews and document analysis. The data, which is used in this study, was compiled by using documentary scanning technique and document analysis method. The obtained data from this study was classified with charts. The qualitative research steps such as determination of category definition, finding themes, organization of codes and themes, the identification and interpretation of findings for classification was used. As a result of this research, 248 exercises, 26 etudes, 16 pieces and refecenced 18 songs was examined which is existing in three volumes. The tecniques, which are used in three volumes are divided into two groups in terms of right ? left hand technical studies. The right hand technical studies are legato, detache, martele, attached martele, portato and attached staccato. Whereas the most used right hand technique in fascicules is detache, martele is the least used rigth hand technique. Left hand techniques were treated within the scope of intonation and it consists of left hand positions (A-B-C-D-E), major-minor tones (18 tonalities), tone studies, arpeggio and chromatic progression studies and position studies (I., I., III. and I-II) topics. In this study, these techniques usage were determined. Commonly used technical studies are; A position for position studies, sol major tone for tonalities, 6 tones spaces for tone studies and first position for chromatic progression studies.
