Abstract (EN)
Eugène Ysaÿe is an incomparable violonist of his time. He is an artist who has taken his place also as a composer and an instructor in music history. My aim in this study is to make it possible for the people who are interested in the subject, to reach to all they want to know about this outstanding name of the violin literature. The study is named "The Technical, Harmonic and Musical Analysis of Op.12 "Poème Elégiaque" by E. Ysaÿe Who is a Leader in Poème Form in Violin Literature". The first part of the study is about the social structure in late XIXth and early XX th century in Europe; especially in Belgium. The art movements in literature and plastic arts paralel to musical ones are approached through a historical perspective. The rise of French-Belgium Violin School, the masters of this school, their influence in the birth of the new techniques in violin playing against the well known German- Austrian school of the past years are explained. The second part of the study is about E.Ysaÿe's life, namely the facts and factors that have been effective in his life, his career as a violonist, his career as an instructer and as a leader in the socio-cultural life of his country. Ysaÿe as a composer, and his Poèmes which have an important place in his compositions are explained. In the third part, the characteristics of the Poèmes of Ysaÿe are given. "Op. 12 Poème Elégiaque" is analysed through its form and harmonic structure in detail in order to explain its properties in relation to the leading art movement of the time, the Impressionism. On the other hand, the composer's classical and romantic tendencies which give an eclectic aspect to the Op. 12 Poème Elégiaque are described and carefully eveluated. In this study, apart form the structural analysis, alternative fingerings and bows are suggested together with some exercises in order to faciliate technical difficulties.
