Abstract (EN)
The Effect of Training and Follow-Up on Self-Efficacy and Symptom Control According to Neuman Systems Model for Patients Receiving Chemotherapy Aim: The research was conducted to determine the effect of education and follow-up given to patients receiving chemotherapy according to NSM on self-efficacy and symptom control. Material and method: The research was carried out in the order of semi-experimental study model with pretest-posttest control group. The population of the study consisted of adult patients who received at least one chemotherapy living in the city center of Malatya, who applied to the Medical Oncology Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit of Turgut Özal Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine. The sample is; It consisted of 102 patients, including 52 experimental and 50 control groups. In the collection of the data, the Patient Information Form, CIS-CV and ESAS were used. Individual education program prepared according to NSM was applied to the experimental group patients, and a training booklet was given to the patients and they were followed up for 12 weeks. Results: In the research, it was observed that there was a positive increase in the total score of CIS-CV after the intervention of the patients in the experimental group, and the mean scores of all sub-symptoms of ESAS decreased positively and the difference between the scores was statistically significant (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the education and follow-up given to the patients receiving chemotherapy according to the NSM increased the self-efficacy of the patients and decreased the symptom levels.
